Principal's Message

Dear Burns Avenue Families,

It is with great pride that I welcome you to Burns Avenue Elementary School. I am honored to serve as Principal and to be part of such an outstanding community of students, families, and professionals.

Burns Avenue is a diverse and vibrant school community of approximately 260 students. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where every child feels valued, respected, and inspired to do their best each day. Our dedicated professionals work tirelessly to ensure that students are challenged academically while also being supported socially and emotionally.

At Burns Avenue, we proudly live by our school promise:

And try my best to persevere.”

This promise serves as the foundation of our school culture and reflects the values we strive to instill in every student.

Each morning, our students begin their day with announcements that include the Pledge of Allegiance, weather updates for indoor or outdoor recess, birthdays, upstanders, important reminders, celebratory announcements, and our Burns Avenue Promise. These daily routines help reinforce positivity, respect, responsibility, and perseverance. At the conclusion of each day, we celebrate our students and professionals for another successful day of learning. We encourage students to thank their teachers and school professionals, wish their friends a wonderful rest of their day, and spend quality time with their families.

One of my favorite parts of our daily dismissal message is encouraging students to share something new they learned that day. I invite you to continue that conversation at home by asking your child, "What is one thing you learned today?" Often, the simplest questions lead to the most meaningful conversations and help strengthen the connection between home and school.

At Burns Avenue, we believe in celebrating both the big accomplishments and the small moments that make each day special. We strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel connected, supported, and excited to come to school each day.

Strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success. I value open communication and family involvement and look forward to working together to ensure every child has a positive and rewarding elementary school experience.
